Keeping facts straight in AI-written video scripts
October 29, 2026 · 5 min read
A five-minute checking pass that stops an AI script from putting a wrong date, a wrong name or a confident myth into a history film.
The failure is not invention, it is confidence
AI scripts rarely hallucinate wildly. They smooth, simplify and round, which produces films that are directionally right and specifically wrong: a battle in the wrong year, a discovery credited to the wrong person, a number quoted without its basis. Watch out for the shape of a sentence, not just its topic. If a claim has a date, a figure or a name attached, that is exactly where a script is least reliable and most convincing.
Read for checkable claims first
Read the script once with a pen and mark every sentence you could look up: dates, quantities, proper nouns, cause-and-effect statements. Ignore the describing words. Most sixty-second scripts hold three or four such claims, and those four decide whether the film is a correct story or a plausible one. If the narration is what makes a slip sound confident, our voiceover notes explain why.
Check the two that carry the film
You do not need to verify every adjective. You do need the hook and the payoff to be true, because those are the two lines a comment section will quote back at you. If the hook is a myth, the correction video costs more effort than the original fact-check would have.
Keep a source line in the caption
Put the source of the central claim in the caption, not the video. It costs nothing, it protects you when a claim is challenged, and it visibly separates your channel from the ones that cannot answer the question. Over a year, that habit is what makes a history account trusted rather than merely watched. The same argument is in why small brands trust AI video.
Correct in public, quickly
When a film turns out wrong, delete it and repost the corrected version with a two-line caption saying what changed. Audiences forgive corrections far more readily than silence, and an archive with visible corrections reads as a channel that checks its work. That reputation is worth more than the view count on the wrong film.
