AI video for small brands: what builds trust, what looks like spam

3 min read

Teach something, and the promotion takes care of itself

A brand film that opens with a product gets scrolled. A film that opens with a fact the viewer did not know gets watched to the end, and the brand is the thing that told them. Educational subjects adjacent to what you sell do more for credibility than any amount of polished product footage.

Consistency is the whole strategy

Trust comes from showing up at the same time with the same quality, not from one viral post. Small brands lose audience because posting stops when work gets busy. A schedule that runs without a content team is the actual competitive advantage, not the videos themselves.

Format like a native, not like an ad

Vertical, captioned, one idea, no logo sting at the top. If the first second looks like a television commercial, viewers leave before the second second. The platform rewards films that look like they were made for the platform.

Do not fake a person

Synthetic talking heads claiming to be your founder read as deceptive and get punished for it. A narrated documentary voice over real footage is the opposite: nobody assumes a narrator is a real employee, so there is nothing to feel misled about.

Keep your voice

Review the captions before they go out, and keep the first two or three films to subjects you actually know. Your subject choices are your brand voice; the narration and edit can be handled for you without that being visible in the result.
