How often should you post short-form video? A cadence that survives

October 5, 2026 · 4 min read

Why daily output beats weekly output on short-form, how many posts a day is too many, and how to keep a posting cadence going for months.

The honest answer: more than you think, less than you fear

Most channels grow on one to three posts a day, not ten. The mistake is rarely volume; it is inconsistency. A channel that posts five times one week and then vanishes for a fortnight loses the compounding effect entirely, because the platform has fewer chances to test each video with fresh viewers.

Why daily beats weekly, mechanically

Short-form distribution works by testing a video on a small audience, then widening it if people watch to the end. A daily channel simply gets more tests. Two channels with identical quality will diverge purely on how many attempts the algorithm gets, which is why a mediocre daily channel can outgrow a polished weekly one.

The upper limit is editorial, not algorithmic

Two posts a day is sustainable when the subjects are planned in advance. Five is where quality collapses, because each video needs its own hook and its own reason to exist. When you find yourself posting to fill a slot rather than to say something, the cadence is already too high.

Consistency is a time-of-day problem

Pick fixed posting times and hold them. Audiences learn when to look, and the platform learns when your viewers are active. Two daily slots — one morning, one evening — cover both habits without doubling the writing load.

How to keep it going past week three

The cadence breaks when production depends on mood. Pre-decide the subjects, write the hook before the script, and automate the mechanical steps: narration, captions, cutting to vertical, uploading. The loop that survives is the one where the only human step left is deciding whether the film is good enough to publish.

What to measure over ninety days

Ignore single-video spikes. Watch completion rate, follows per thousand views and saves. If completion is falling while volume rises, slow down; if follows keep climbing, the cadence is working even on the days a specific video underperforms.
