How to start a faceless science channel in a weekend

November 4, 2026 · 6 min read

The niche narrow enough to own, the first twenty scripts, an evening-sized production loop, and the checks that keep a science channel credible without a presenter.

Pick a lane narrow enough to own

“Science” is a shelf, not a channel. The channels that grow fastest pick an angle a viewer can describe to a friend in one line: the physics of everyday objects, the chemistry of cooking, the biology of sleep, the maths behind something familiar. Narrow does not mean small. It means the same viewer comes back, because they know what the next film will be about.

Write twenty scripts before the first upload

Two reasons. First, if the twentieth idea still excites you, the lane is right. Second, a channel that launches with one video and then hesitates reads as a hobby; a channel with a queue reads as a publication. Twenty scripts is roughly two weeks of daily output, which is enough runway to find out whether the format holds.

Production that fits in an evening

Narration, captions, a vertical cut and an upload should not need a timeline editor. Write the script, generate the voice, burn in the captions, cut to 9:16, schedule. If one of those steps takes longer than the writing, it is the step to automate first, because writing is the only part where your judgement is irreplaceable.

The credibility checks

Every number needs a source you could show a commenter. Every simplification needs to survive being read literally. Every image needs to be one you have the right to publish. And the disclosure that a film was made with AI belongs in the caption, not buried in a description: audiences forgive a synthetic voice and do not forgive being misled about it.

What the first ninety days should look like

Days one to fourteen: publish daily, change nothing, collect data. Days fifteen to forty-five: keep the best-performing format, drop the worst, hold the cadence. Days forty-six to ninety: introduce one new format a fortnight and see whether it beats the baseline. What you are measuring is completion rate and followers per thousand views, not single-video spikes, because a faceless channel grows on the shape of its average film rather than on its luckiest one.
